EHU/UPV-IXA Group: Master in Analysis and Procesing of Language

The main goal of the programme is to introduce the students to language analysis, and computerised natural language processing techniques and applications.


This doctoral programme is the result of the joint effort of five departments and knowledge-fields: Computer Languages and Systems, Basque Philology, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Architecture and Technology.

The University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) has collaboration agreements with the following organisations for infrastructure and lecturing: Elhuyar fundazioa, Eleka Ingeniaritza Linguistikoa, S.L.VICOMTECH, Asociación Centro de Tecnologías de Interacción Visual y Comunicaciones, Robotiker Tecnalia, Langune.

Visiting lectures from the following research centres and organisations:
* Universitat de Barcelona
* Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya
* Urije Universiteit, Amsterdam
* Dublin City University

Applications developed within the language industry include:

* Text-editing and Management (grammar and spell checkers, dictionary aids)
* Information Retrieval and Extraction for large volumes of text
* Machine Translation
* Natural Language Interfaces
* Speech Processing

The programme takes place at the Faculty of Computer Science in Donostia-San Sebastian, University of the Basque Country.
